Canon Terms of Use

Who can use Canon

You must be at least 13 years old to use Canon. If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission. Canon does not have accounts; the app keeps your worlds together through an anonymous identifier on your device, as described in our Privacy Policy.

What Canon is

Canon is an entertainment app. You enter a fictional story world, play as one of its characters, and take part in a social feed where the other characters react to what you do. Everything those characters say and do is generated by artificial intelligence while you play.

Worlds in Canon draw on characters, settings, and themes from popular culture, and some include characters based on public figures. These are fictional, transformative portrayals created for entertainment, in the way fan fiction and parody are. They are not statements of fact about any real person and do not represent that person's views. Canon is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the owners of any franchise or by any person portrayed. All trademarks and characters belong to their respective owners.

Generated content

Because the characters are generated by AI, what they say can be inaccurate, inconsistent, unexpected, or something you find offensive. It is fiction. It is not advice of any kind, and you should not rely on it as fact. If something a character produces concerns you, email us. We may filter, change, or remove generated content at any time.

What you create

You own what you write in Canon: your posts, replies, messages, and profile, and the photos you attach. So that we can run the app, you give us permission to store that content, use it to generate the world's responses, and show it back to you. We do not publish your worlds; they are private to you.

You are responsible for what you create. You agree not to use Canon to:

• Create or share content that is illegal, that harasses or threatens anyone, or that sexualizes minors in any way.
• Try to make the characters produce content that breaks these rules.
• Upload photos you do not have the right to use, or that show other people without their permission.
• Interfere with the service, attempt to gain access you are not meant to have, use automated tools against it, or reverse engineer any part of the app.
• Get around limits we place on use.

We may remove content or end your access to Canon if you break these rules.

Canon Pro

Some of Canon is free. Unlimited play requires a Canon Pro subscription.

• Subscriptions are billed by Apple through your Apple account, at the price shown in the app when you subscribe.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel in your Apple account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.
• Prices and what is included may change. If they do, the change applies when your subscription next renews, and Apple will tell you in advance where required.
• To keep Canon fast and fair for everyone, we may limit how many actions you can take in a day or how many worlds you can start, for free and paid use alike.

Changes to Canon

We may change, add to, or remove parts of Canon at any time, and we may discontinue the app. Worlds and progress are not guaranteed to be preserved forever. We are not responsible for content or progress that is lost.

Ending your use

You can stop using Canon at any time and ask us to delete your information, as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we discontinue the service.

Disclaimers

Canon is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including that Canon will be uninterrupted, error free, or that generated content will be accurate or appropriate.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Raze Labs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of Canon. Our total liability for any claim relating to Canon is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or fifty US dollars, whichever is greater. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

You agree to hold Raze Labs harmless from claims by others that arise from content you create in Canon or from your breaking these terms.

Copyright complaints

If you believe content in Canon infringes your copyright, email us with a description of the work, where the content appears, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized. We will review it and respond.

Disputes

If you have a problem with Canon, email us first and we will try to sort it out informally within 30 days. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Washington, and you agree to their jurisdiction.

Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Canon, its content, or any support for it. Any claim about the app is between you and Raze Labs.

General

These terms are the whole agreement between you and Raze Labs about Canon. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a part of these terms, that is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer these terms to anyone else; we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale.

We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we will post the new version at this address and update the date at the top. Continuing to use Canon after a change means you accept the new terms.
